LANDMASTER
LANDMASTER 64 Titanium One-Piece Rear Wheel Bolt M12×L50×P1.5 for BMW Motorrad
Integrated structure of genuine "wheel bolt + tapered ring".
Some BMW Motorrad models use the following two parts to secure the rear wheel:
Genuine wheel bolt
BMW Part Number: 36311452114
and
Tapered ring
BMW Part Number: 36132302339
Instead of simply replacing this genuine two-piece structure with titanium, LANDMASTER integrated the wheel bolt and tapered section.
It was designed and manufactured from scratch as a Ti-6Al-4V rear wheel bolt specifically for BMW Motorrad.
This is not a product that simply replaces the genuine bolt with titanium.
It is a LANDMASTER original, specially designed product that re-examined the BMW genuine wheel fastening structure itself, and manufactured the bolt body and the tapered part that contacts the wheel as a single unit.
Uses Ti-6Al-4V, also known as 64 titanium
The material used is Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy, also known as 64 titanium.
It is a material also used in aerospace and motor sports, and has high strength while being lightweight, and is also excellent in corrosion resistance.
The size of this product is M12 x L50 x P1.5.
In addition to the large diameter size of M12, unlike general bolts, it has a special shape where the tapered part that contacts the wheel is integrated.
The head and tapered part are manufactured by cutting from Ti-6Al-4V material.
And rolling is used for the threaded part.
Head and tapered part are machined
In genuine BMW, it is a separate structure consisting of:
Wheel bolt
+
Tapered ring
At LANDMASTER, we integrated the function of this tapered ring into the bolt body and machined the head to the tapered part as a single integrated structure.
Therefore, the genuine tapered ring is not used during installation.
It is not a product that combines a commercially available M12 size titanium bolt with a genuine tapered ring, but is specially designed to match the rear wheel fixing part of BMW Motorrad, including the contact part with the wheel.
This rear wheel bolt was manufactured not just by changing the bolt to titanium, but by considering the structure of how the wheel is received and fixed.
Threads are roll-formed at high cost
One of the major features of this product is that roll-forming is used for the threaded part.
Roll-forming is a processing method in which the material is plastically deformed by a mold to form threads, unlike cutting threads where the material is cut to form threads.
For small-volume production of titanium bolts, products that are roll-formed even for the threaded part are not common due to processing and cost issues.
In particular, this product has the following special specifications:
Ti-6Al-4V
M12 x L50 x P1.5
Integrated tapered section structure
Head and tapered section are specially machined
Threads are roll-formed
Despite being a small-volume product manufactured specifically for BMW Motorrad, we dared to incur costs to finish the threaded part with roll-forming.
Unlike mass-produced general-purpose bolts, not only the material but also the design philosophy and manufacturing process itself are different.
Manufactured by selectively using "cutting" and "rolling"
This bolt is not made entirely with the same processing method.
The head and tapered sections, which require a specific shape for BMW, are machined.
The threaded section is roll-formed.
We use different processing methods depending on each part.
While the head, tapered section, shank, and threaded section are all integrated into a single Ti-6Al-4V bolt, different manufacturing processes are used for the part that creates the special shape and the part that forms the threads.
This is a LANDMASTER original product that was not merely changed to 64 titanium, but was custom-made, including the manufacturing method.
Integrated structure that does not use a genuine tapered ring
With genuine BMW parts, a wheel bolt and a tapered ring are used in combination to secure the rear wheel.
At LANDMASTER, this tapered section is integrated with the bolt body.
Structurally, it is a Ti-6Al-4V rear wheel bolt with an integrated head, tapered section, shank, and threaded section.
The genuine tapered ring is not used.
The major feature is that it is not a "product that simply replaces only the genuine bolt with titanium," but rather a product that re-examined the genuine two-piece structure itself and was specially designed as an integrated structure.

It is not easy to make the same specifications in small quantities now.
This product was produced in small quantities as a dedicated item for BMW Motorrad during the LANDMASTER era.
M12 x L50 x P1.5.
Ti-6Al-4V.
Integrated tapered section structure.
The head and tapered section are machined.
And the threaded section is roll-formed.
It is not a product that diverts commercially available M12 size general-purpose titanium bolts.
It is specially designed to match the genuine BMW rear wheel fixing structure and manufactured from scratch.
A particularly significant feature is that, despite being a small-volume production item, roll-forming is also used for the threaded section.
Specifications that involve setting up processing conditions for small quantities of Ti-6Al-4V bolts and incurring costs for the roll-forming process are rarely seen in general small-volume production of titanium bolts.
Furthermore, it is not a standard bolt shape, but a special shape where the genuine BMW tapered ring section is integrated with the bolt body.
In addition to using 64 titanium as the material, it is manufactured by combining:
Special design
Machining of the head and tapered section
Integrated tapered structure
Roll-forming of the threaded section
Currently, if we were to newly produce the same specifications in small quantities, not only the material costs but also considerable manufacturing costs would be required for each process, including machining of the special shape, roll-forming, processing setup, and handling of small-volume production.
A BMW-specific bolt created during the LANDMASTER era.
It's not just a bolt made of titanium because it's light.
The genuine BMW "wheel bolt + tapered ring" structure was re-examined, and the tapered section was integrated with the bolt body.
The head and tapered section were machined from Ti-6Al-4V, and despite being a small-volume production item, costly roll-forming was adopted for the threaded section.
This is a LANDMASTER original 64 titanium rear wheel bolt, specially designed for BMW Motorrad and manufactured with meticulous attention to the processing method.
We are now re-selling old LANDMASTER products that have been stored for a long time.
