Positioning of ZF and ZF-R
ZF was planned as the standard line, while ZF-R was planned as a special-order specification with a revised internal configuration and material selection. Some ZF-R models use a dual-cable configuration depending on production requirements.
Differences between models are not expressed as fixed horsepower gains or fuel-economy improvement rates. Compare configuration, dimensions, cables, target vehicle and installation conditions using the same vehicle and similar driving conditions.
What to record when comparing
- Vehicle, model year, engine type and mileage
- Battery and terminal condition
- Tyre pressure, load and fuel level
- Installation position and connection condition
- Route, temperature and traffic conditions
- Driver observations and any measured data
Response, smoothness and road-contact feel are user-evaluation items. They do not guarantee the same change in every vehicle. Results where no change was observed are also retained as development records.
Materials and production
ZF-R is not maintained as a continuously stocked product because of its materials and production process. Price, lead time and specifications may change with material availability.
